So December 21st my customer Graydon Stanley came and picked up the wine cabinet he had me made for his wife of 32 years. They both came to twin (about 8 hours of driving) and while she was occupied just a few blocks away, Graydon came and picked it up. I had spent that morning doing all the final cleaning on it making sure no sawdust from the shop was resting on or in it. When he saw it he was very impressed and extremely thankful for the beautiful piece of art that I made. I asked him if the color was exactly what he thought it would be since this is the first time he saw it in person, and he said his wife had bought furniture that would match it perfectly which means I did a good job. So I loaded it into his truck for him making sure nobody else touched it and dropped it accidentally, and he covered it up and secured it so his wife wouldn't see it. So fast forward to Christmas day when he gave this to his wife. He sent me this picture with the message saying "She absolutely loves it! One of the best presents ever, thanks so much!" It really was an honor for me to make this for Graydon, he served the College of Southern Idaho for 26 years and had continuously been like family to every student who met him. He also for many years worked with the foreign exchanged students from many diverse cultures and countries from around the world. The college has not been the same since he left, but this is in honor of him for all he has done for us students at the college for many years.
No I did not, that is Graydon's wife and she is older than either of my parents. Plus I have only met her once after the graduation ceremony for about 30 seconds because Graydon wanted to meet my parents and thank them for raising a fine young man.
Yeah I love the cabinetmaking but I have to set it on the back burner for a while, about a year and a half because I am going for a second associates degree in manufacturing with emphasis on machine maintenance and lean manufacturing which will take three semesters. Then hopefully I can get a job where I can afford my own place and have my own shop to work in on my time.
She's kinda cute. Did you ask her out?
Again...nice work on the cabinet,Tim.
